The Natural History Museum of New York is being renovated so Larry Daley, the night guard, is sent to the Washington Smithsonian Museum, which houses some of the most important historical items in the USA. Problems arise when, inexplicably, some pieces missing from the New York museum turn up there. And when things come to life at night, chaos takes over the museum. But don't panic! Good old Larry is there to sort everything out...
